The Utah State Republican Convention

There is a serious movement to stop the political convention system where
political parties select their candidates at the convention in Utah.

Utah Legislature passed a bill in 2014 stating that anyone of any party
affiliation can gather signatures and get their name on the ballot
and political parties can't do anything to stop them.

That bill is in litigation and is now at the 10th District Court of Appeals
in Denver.

So the conventions for 2018 were an exercise in making the convention
look impossible.  Credentialing started at 7:00 a.m. and there was NO
Voting for candidates until about 5:00 p.m. 10 hours later.  Some delegates
had left.

BUT DO NOT DESPAIR.  The state party used Pulse Interactive clickers
so when you left the convention all you had to do was give your clicker to
someone to vote for you.

There was no way to stop the voting for absent delegates, because if you
checked in with your driver's license, you got a clicker and they didn't
record your number so your vote was private.

CONSEQUENTLY NO WAY TO CATCH THE PEOPLE WHO WERE GONE
AND STILL VOTING.

Another plus for the clickers, is there were 12 candidates in the Mitt Romney
senate race, but only NINE buttons on the clicker.
