I was going to take a picture of Roxie and Ellie with me while
they were in Utah and I didn't. Here is a photo of Jacob
and his girls instead.
Remember Jacob didn't come to Utah only the GIRLS!
Jacob is doing a rotation in ICU in the Phoenix area.

Jacob crocheted a Hacky sack
Natasha showed Jacob how to crochet and he made
a HACKY sack. He filled it with rice.
If you are in Utah, Susan and I can help
you make a HACKY sack.
The bottom photo is the one he started with.
He had to start over because he didn't
increase fast enough.

Earlier
this month the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education approved
guidelines that would allow first-year medical residents in the United States
to work hospital shifts of up to 24 hours at a stretch. That’s an eight-hour
increase over current rules, which cap the shifts of first-year residents at 16
hours. Critics of the rule change, including the group Public Citizen, have
said that the change will lead to errors in care as sleep-deprived residents
try to function. Officials at the accreditation agency say that allowing longer
continuous hours provides advantages to patients in the form of fewer staff
transitions and fewer complications arising from handoffs from one caregiver to
the next. The new rules are scheduled to go into effect July 1. Casey Ross,
national hospitals correspondent for STAT, joins Ira to talk about the pros and
cons of longer hours for medical trainees.

Wilma, Mark's mother is on hospice (March 17, 2017)
Jenifer posted the italicized statement with this photo on Facebook
on March 17.
When you put someone on Hospice, it means that they won't do
anything to keep them alive. It also means you are not in a physician's
care as well. Hospice is supposed to administer pain medication to
keep a patient comfortable.
Jenifer posted this on Facebook March 17.
I just found it. Hospice can mean anything from removing all IV's
feeding tubes, and medication to not reviving in case of any organ
failure.
Dan was in California with Wilma from Sunday March 19 to Saturday March 25.
Guy spent Saturday March 25 and Sunday March 26 with Wilma in California.
Mark had double hernia surgery on March 22, and is still NOT doing well.
He is swollen he can't get his slacks on and the pain is fairly intense.
So Mark will NOT be going to see his mother this week.
Grandma is not eating or drinking much.So she is really weak, Please Pray for her to get better! She just got out of the hospital and they have put her on hospice.

Natasha drove to Utah for Ellie's spring break.
They brought with them Ellie's Butterfly Garden
Gift Set with Live Cup of Caterpillars
The trip was really hard on the caterpillars
and they were
shaking when the got to Utah.
They hatched into butterflies and were really
pretty tiny butterflies when I saw them.
You can buy the caterpillars on Amazon
or on the web site of the company in California
for $27.95, (I don't know how much they are
on Amazon)

Disney Store 30th Anniversary 2017
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Disney Store, Disney
released ten, 3 piece pin sets starting January 28, 2017,
through April 1, 2017.
You had to be 18 years old, and go to the Disney store between
11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the day of the drawing to pick up
a voucher. They draw out 18 names from the people who
picked up vouchers.
Mary and some of her family, worked hard to collect the entire
set. They always had at least two people in the store with
vouchers for each person collecting. One week Mary didn't get
her set at the store and had to buy it from the Disney store online.
I made it to the Disney store on the NINTH week and was the third
name drawn. This three piece pin set has OLAF. Anthony and Noah
had decided I could have an OLAF birthday, so Olaf is kind of
the pin I would want.
I have only the Olaf Wreck it Ralph set. Mary has the others.

Adam mentioned in Phil Windley's blog
Adam
Burdett has redone the closet demo
we showed at OpenWest last summer using the new engine running on a
Raspberry Pi. One of the things I didn't like about using the classic pico
engine in this scenario was that it made the solution overly reliant on a
cloud-based system (the pico engine) and consequently was not robust under
network partitioning. If the goal is to keep my machines cool, I don't want
them overheating because my network was down. Now the closet controller can run
locally with minimal reliance on the wider Internet.
Phil Windley blog 2016 Open West
Up Next
I've
hired two new students, Joshua Olson and Connor Grimm, to join Adam Burdett and
Nick Angell in my lab. We're planning to spend the summer getting Manifold, our
pico-based Internet of Things platform, running on the new engine. This will
provide a good opportunity to improve the new pico engine and give us a good
IoT system for future experiments, supporting our idea around social things.
March was NOT Anthony's Month! March 7, 2017
If you have tubes in your ears, this is what happens when you get an ear infection.
Anthony's ears were draining this liquid green when he woke up on March 7. He was also
starting a fever.
He ended up at Primary Children's Hospital where they diagnosed him
the pneumonia, a bacteria infection in addition to the ear infection.
They didn't admit Anthony to the hospital, on Tuesday the seventh, but called
on Wednesday March 8th to say he needed to be admitted.
Anthony got IV antibiotics on Tuesday and on Wednesday. After Anthony
was admitted they sent him home where he had daily IV antibiotics until Wednesday
March 22.
Anthony has been really sick. However it is March 25 and Anthony looked
lots better the last two days.

Mark had double hernia surgery on March 22, 2017.
He had it with Dr. Hansen a general surgeon at Riverton Hospital.
Dr. Hansen operates at Lone Peak Hospital, where his office is located
but that hospital won't take Select Health insurance.
The hospital admitted Mark the day before the surgery, but didn't
put him on the surgery schedule. We were up at 6:00 a.m.
trying to work out the surgery schedule bit, and they didn't take
him into surgery until 12:15 p.m. We didn't leave the hospital until
4:15 p.m. and it is a long ride home after surgery.

Adam taught Dr. Windley's 465 Class Tuesday February 28 because he was out of town.
Note this post should be BEFORE Anthony's in a timeline.
Dr. Windley has had Adam teach at least TWO of his CS
classes each semester because he was out of town.
I find it interesting that he uses his PA, rather than another
professor in the department or a guest speaker.
At any rate Adam has experience teaching a class full of
computer science majors, many of who are in their last
semester because this in an upper level class.
ANTHONY HAD HIS LAST SPINAL CHORD CHEMO YESTERDAY
Anthony got a Congratulations Certificate and a toy, which
they gave him while he was asleep from the general anesthetic
they give him to administer the drugs at Primary Children's Hospital
yesterday March 1, 2017.
Anthony only has THREE more visits to Primary Children's hospital
until he is finished with this ROUND OF chemotherapy.
On May 24, they are planning to surgically take out his port,
and May 29, is the LAST DAY HE TAKES CHEMO DRUGS
AT HOME.
