The past two years have seen a major boom in backyard gardens. A host of factors, including the economy, the locavore know-where-your-food-comes-from movement, and the White House garden, have made it trendy to grow your own fruits and vegetables.
So now what do you do with your tomatoes, squash, corn, peppers, cucumbers and other bumper crops of the season?
Send your favorite garden produce recipe to vphillips@desnews.com, or Valerie Phillips, food editor, Deseret News, 30 E. 100 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. The deadline is Sept. 1.
We'll pick five entries to receive a free cookbook publish as many submissions as possible in our Deseret News Food section.
In the case of duplicate entries (such as two people submitting similar zucchini bread or salsa recipes), we'll use the first submission.

QUACK, QUACK, QUACK!
Carly's preschool learned the song 6 little ducks last week and Carly doesn't remember me singing that song to her. I learned this song while I was teaching at BYU pre-school which is why I remembered it when I was thinking of songs little kids would like.
Carly's class made duck hats too.
Here are the words:
Six little ducks
That I once knew
Fat ones, skinny ones,
Fair ones, too
But the one little duck
With the feather on his back
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack.
Down to the river
They would go
Wibble, wobble, wibble, wobble,
To and fro
But the one little duck
With the feather on his back
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack.
Back from the river
They would come
Wibble, wobble, wibble, wobble,
Ho, hum, hum
But the one little duck
With the feather on his back
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack
Quack, quack, quack,
Quack, quack, quack
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack.
Into the water they would dive
Over and under the other five
But the one little duck
With the feather on his back
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack.
Home from the river they would go
Wibble wobble, wibble wobble,
Ho hum hum
But the one little duck
With the feather on his back
He led the others
With a quack, quack, quack.

Adam is on a fire in Deer Park (Sawtooth National Forest) Idaho
Adam flew to the Deer Park fire on Sunday. The following site is updated every day at 5:00 p.m. There is supposed to be an additional site that gives more information, but I don't know where it is.

Trails closed near Deer Park due to 450-acre fire
Parts of 15 trails are affected

A 450-acre fire in the Fairfield Ranger District has prompted the Sawtooth National Forest to close parts of 15 trails around Beaver Creek.
The Deer Park Fire is burning at the head of the creek just to the west of Iron Mountain Lookout, thriving on the large accumulation of dead and downed fuel in stands of fir trees in the area. Julie Thomas, Sawtooth National Forest spokesperson, said the fire has not been contained and the cause is still under investigation.
Parts of the following trails are closed: Virginia Gulch, West Fork Kelley Creek, North Fork Lime Creek, President's Trail, Blue Ridge, Middle Fork Lime Creek, Roanhide Trail, Coyote Trail, Bremner Trail, Deadwood Creek, Beaver Creek and East Fork Beaver Creek, the Deadwood/Beaver Connector, Gardner Gulch and the Kelley Creek/Iron Mountain Trail.
For more information, recreationists are urged to visit the Sawtooth National Forest Web site at www.fs.fed.us/r4/sawtooth or call (208) 764-3202.
Other fires on Forest Service land include the 1,128-acre Bighorn Fire burning through the Impassable Canyon in the Salmon-Challis National Forest and the Little Beaver and Bernard Lake fires 26 miles west of Stanley.
The latter two fires have burned 2,850 acres and are threatening a private cabin in the area. Camping is discouraged between the Elk Creek Guard Station and the Deer Flat campground, and campers in that area may be required to leave on short notice.
The lower four miles of the Waterfall Creek trail are still closed. Recreationists looking for more information may visit the Salmon-Challis National Forest website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/sc/.

Adam is on a fire in Idaho--Maybe. . . . .

This is a television news channel in Idaho with a video about the fires in Idaho.
Adam left Draper at 6:00 p.m. on Friday August 6, and drove until about 9:00 p.m. when they stopped to get food at a town that starts with B in Idaho, (not Boise). They can't drive after 10:00 p.m. so they got a Motel.
They went to a fire in Buckhorn Idaho, Sawtooting National Recreation Area, but it was out by the time they got there on Saturday. I think Buckhorn is straight west of Boise in the middle of nowhere. They slept in the dirt Saturday night.
If you find Adam's Lone Peak Twin Peaks on a fire, please post it and or call me.
