Shelley Patten has a brain tumor is having surgery tomorrow.

Shelley, Dennis and Joyce's daughter has a brain tumor above
the left ear on the outside of the brain.

Joyce had a brain tumor in the middle and I think hers was
connected to the brain.  It has been years since Joyce had
24 hours surgery and then radiation.  They didn't get all
the tumor, but it hasn't come back.

Shelley has been having problems with epileptic seizures
all her life.  She had them under control with medication
but they have been back for a while.  Shelley had a seizure
right after the family party up the canyon last weekend and
spent the night in the hospital.

Dr. Reichman, the same doctor to operate on Jim's brain
is going to operate on Shelley tomorrow.  She has to stay
awake during the surgery.

Here is Dennis' email:

Hi,
I think most of you have heard by now that Shelly is going in for surgery sometime in the morning.
She has a tumor above her left ear. The doctors are pretty sure this is what’s causing her seizures now. She is going to be awake during the surgery so if her speech starts to be affected by the surgery, the doctors will know. She is expected to be in intensive care for a day and then in her hospital room for another 3 to 4 days. The surgeon has told her she should still be able to go to Snowbird this year, which starts the 12th of Sept.
Thanks again for your help and concern. We will keep you posted.

Dennis
