I went to the UVU Governor candidate's debate yesterday and I am posting facts you won't find listed anywhere else.
The introduction and welcome were done by the Westminster College Student Body President and he welcomed students from all over the state who had traveled far to get here.
The introduction of the moderator KSL TV broadcaster Richard Piatt was done by the University of Utah Student Body President.
In other words NONE of the UVU studentbody officers were featured on the stand.
The REAL sad note, is the majority of the students attending were taking notes, which probably translates into a class assignment or extra credit for some class, NOT really an interest in the election, candidates or the debate!
Last, but not least, they gave 2 plaques for the schools who were able to register the most voters on campus. Weber State got the most registered voters per student capita, over 1700 voters, and UVU got the largest number over 2500 new registered voters.
Unfortunately, if it is not an assignment for credit, most of the above newly registered voters won't actually vote.
